Scholarships at Leeds Beckett University

We really value the diversity that international students bring to Leeds Beckett University and we are delighted to offer the following scholarships to all eligible students from your country:

• International Foundation Year - £1,500 (first year only)

• Undergraduate Courses - £1,000 per year

• Postgraduate Courses - £3,000 (first year only)

• Research Courses - £1,500 per year

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship discount you must:

• Be assessed as having an ‘Overseas or EU’ residency status

• Be assessed to pay the overseas fee

• Be studying the relevant course full time

• Be actively enrolled on an eligible course

• Be a self-funded student, who is paying the full course fee for that year (those students who have their tuition fees paid by a third-party sponsor, employer or government agency will not be eligible)

• Studying that level of the course for the first time (i.e. not repeating any level during that year)

Exception List

You will not be eligible for the scholarship if any of the following apply to you;

• Courses or schemes where particular rates or payment arrangements exist (such as those relating to Franchise / Overseas / Partner Based delivery or any other special arrangement)

• Part time students

• Any repeat year

• Any year where the student is out on placement

• Students on Distance Learning courses

• Those studying PGDip or PGCert programmes

• Those studying LLM Legal Practice course

• Those studying Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA), Doctor of Education (EdD), or Research By Published Works

To qualify for the Carnegie Sports Scholarship, applicants must not only showcase exceptional sporting achievements but also embody the core values of Leeds Beckett University. Recipients are expected to represent the university in British Universities and Colleges Sports (BUCS) events, contributing to the vibrant and competitive sporting community we foster. 

Successful undergraduate recipients will receive a £6,000 annual scholarship. Postgraduate recipients will receive a 50% discount on postgraduate taught fees.

American Football

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Non- GB adult programme member.

• Extensive experience and high performance levels in European leagues.

• Extensive experience and high performance levels in North American leagues/divisions.

Football

Must meet one or more of the following criteria:

Men

• Be a regular contributor to a 1st team squad in Step 4 or above of the FA's National League pyramid OR equivalent home nation league experience.

• Have been part of a football academy at a club within Step 2 or above of the FA's National League pyramid and received an academy scholarship until U18. 

• Senior or age group international. 

Women

• Be a regular contributor to a 1st team squad in Tier 4 of the FA's Women's Football pyramid or above OR equivalent home nation league experience.

• Have been part of a football academy at a club within FA Women’s Super League/ FA Women’s Championship level and received an academy scholarship until to U18.

• Senior or age group international.

Athletics

Must meet one or more of the following criteria:

• Will be assessed based on European U20 and U23 championship standards.

• Must have competed at a national or international level.

• All athlete personal best information must come from an official national governing body.

Cricket

Must have previous experience playing at or above a National U17's or U19's level.

Netball

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Home Nation Senior / Age Group International. Super League squad player.

• NPL playing with 80% court time in the last 3 years.

Rugby League

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Previous regular playing experience, or competition experience to be assessed by coaching team.

• Professional club academy experience.

Rugby Union

Must meet one of the following criteria:

• Previous regular playing experience, or competition experience to be assessed by coaching team.

• Professional club academy experience.

Tennis

Must meet at least one or more of the below criteria: 

• Has or has had an ATP/WTA ranking point(s) or shows regular competition at futures level , points must have been earned by winning and not a wild card granted entry to main draw

• Has been ranked Top 500 Junior ITF. 

• Has been nationally ranked inside the Top 20 as a junior within a select number larger Tennis Federation countries.  

• Was at an NCAA Div 1/D2 University playing in the team regularly with a UTR of 11.8 or better . 10 or better for females.

• Shows a history of developing as a player towards ITF futures /challenger level.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship discount you must:

• Be assessed as having an 'Overseas or EU' residency status.

• Be assessed to pay the overseas fee.

• Be studying the relevant course full time.

• Be actively enrolled on an eligible course.

• Be a self-funded student, who is paying the full course fee for that year (those students who have their tuition fees paid by a third-party sponsor, employer or government agency will not be eligible).

• Studying that level of the course for the first time (i.e. not repeating any level during that year).

The Dean's Scholarship is aimed at undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Successful candidates will receive a scholarship worth £6,000 per year.

To qualify for the Dean’s Scholarship, candidates must:

• Apply for a full-time BA or BSc undergraduate course and receive an unconditional offer by the date noted in the eligibility criteria below.

• Meet country-specific academic entry requirements.

• Complete the online application form, which includes a video submission requirement.

• Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an interview panel. 

Eligibility Criteria

Entry Requirements: 

Class 12th CBSE - 75% and above
Class 12th State Board - 80% and above

IELTS Score (or equivalent): 6.5 with no skill below 6.0

The LBU Global Award is presented in partnership with our esteemed university partners Akal Overseas and BitTrack. We aim to reduce barriers to a UK education by providing comprehensive support to successful postgraduate applicants.

Recipients will receive a full tuition fee waiver for their chosen postgraduate course. The award will also cover university accommodation, and an additional monthly stipend of £500 to cover living expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the LBU Global Award you must:

• Be assessed as having an 'Overseas or EU' residency status.

• Be assessed to pay the overseas fee.

• Be studying the relevant course full time.

• Be actively enrolled on an eligible course.

• Studying that level of the course for the first time (i.e. not repeating any level during that year).

The Leeds School of Arts scholarships will be awarded on the basis of exceptional academic performance and design experience, evidenced through an interview and design portfolio. Applications are open until 22 April 2024.

Filmmaking and Creative Technologies

Funding Available - 6 x 50% scholarships

The awards are available for full-time taught Master’s courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

• 1 scholarship available for MA Documentary Filmmaking

• 2 scholarships available for MA Screenwriting: Feature Film and Continuing Series

• 1 scholarship available for MA Film Curation and Exhibition

• 1 scholarship available for MSc Creative Technology

• 1 scholarship available for MA Cinematography

Subject-specific criteria:

Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment.

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for MA Documentary Filmmaking, MA Screenwriting: Feature Film and Continuing Series, MA Curation and Exhibition, MA Cinematography, or MSc Creative Technology 22 April 2024.  

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2024, during which you will be asked to present your portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University. 

Architecture

Funding Available - 7 x 50% scholarships
 
The awards are available for full-time taught Master’s courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees. 

• Two scholarships available for Master of Architecture - MArch 

• Two scholarships available for MA Landscape Architecture

• One scholarship available for MA Architecture Futures 

• One scholarship available for MA Urban Design 

• One scholarship available for MA Expanded Spatial Practices 

Subject-specific entry criteria:

Have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from an Interior Architecture, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Spatial Practice course. 

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for the Master of Architecture, MA Architecture Futures, MA Landscape Architecture, MA Urban Design or MA Expanded Practices courses by 22 April 2024.  

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2024, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.

Art & Design

Funding Available - 5 x 50% scholarships

The awards are available for full-time taught Master’s courses and will be applied as fee waivers towards the cost of tuition fees.

• Two scholarships available for MA Graphic Design

• One scholarship available for MA 3D Design

• One scholarship available for MA Fine Art

• One scholarship available for MA Fashion

Subject-specific criteria:

Have achieved at least a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a related course. 

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for the  MA Graphic Design, MA 3D Design, MA Fine Art or MA Fashion by 22 April 2024.  

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2024, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios.

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University. 

Acoustics, Wellbeing and the Environment

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

Subject-specific criteria:

You must have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from an Audio and Acoustics course or equivalent. 

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett for the MSc Audio and Acoustics course by 22 April 2024.  

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2024, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.  

Choreographic Practice

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

Subject-specific criteria:

You must have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a dance or performance related subject.

1. You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett by 22 April 2024.  

2. Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2024, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

3. You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.

Performing Arts

Funding Available - 2 x 50% scholarships

Subject-specific criteria: 
You must have achieved a UK first-class or upper second (or overseas equivalent) undergraduate award from a course pertaining to the performing arts, which includes but is not limited to, Acting, Dance, Music Performance, or Creative Technology. 

• You must receive an unconditional offer from Leeds Beckett by 22 April 2023.

• Shortlisted scholarship applicants will be invited to an online interview in May 2023, during which you will be asked to present your design portfolios, which may include university and practice-based projects. 

• You must also satisfy all of the conditions of entry for postgraduate study at Leeds Beckett University.
